QUESTION: How can I get a copy of the manual for my receiver?
ANSWER: Manuals for all DIRECTV receivers are posted on the DIRECTV website. You can get to the page by clicking here..

QUESTION: How does the first payment occur?
ANSWER: A paper statement will arrive by mail approximately five (5) days after account activation.

QUESTION: Why do we need the customer's social security number?
ANSWER: DirecTV requires this number at the time of activation. This number may also help AmeriDish to differentiate this customer from a pre-existing DTV customer with a similar name. If the customer is uncomfortable providing this information at the time of the sale, it is not required for the completion of the sale, only for the activation of service.

QUESTION: What happens if a customer cancels within the first 12/24 months?
ANSWER: They will subject to early termination fee from DirecTV as follows: o A prorated charge of $200 for standard equipment (12 month) or $300 for advanced equipment (24 month).

QUESTION: If rates go up within the first 12 months of service, is the customer subject to the new rates?
ANSWER: In the past 3 years, rates have only gone up for DIRECTV twice, and at each time, DIRECTV added channels. This is far different from cable providers who raise rates often and at the same time take channels away. If a rate increase does occur, then every subscriber is subject to the increased rates.

QUESTION: How long does an installation take?
ANSWER: It is impossible to give a universal answer, because every home is very different. In general, you can expect a 2-room installation to take roughly 1.5 hours, and each additional room should add roughly a half hour.

QUESTION: What does a standard installation include?
ANSWER: A standard install is a 18" or 23" dish antenna(s), receiver(s), remote(s), and all the necessary wiring. Wall jacks will be added when possible. The installation also includes customer education, consisting of a basic demo on using the system.

QUESTION: How does pay-per-view work?
ANSWER: Pay-per-view can be ordered using the remote, online, or by phone. Pay-per-views may be viewed ONLY on the box that ordered them. So if the customer has a 2 room system, and they order the pay-per-view on box A, then box B will NOT show the event. If the customer wishes to view the pay-per-view on both boxes, he/she must order it on both boxes, and pay for each box on which it will be viewed. All receivers that wish to order pay-per-view must be hooked to a land phone line.

QUESTION: Why do the receivers need to be hooked to the phone?
ANSWER: The receivers must be hooked to the phone line for a number of reasons. The phone line connection allows the customer to order pay-per-view events using the remote; it enables the receiver to automatically receive very important software downloads from DIRECTV; and it also enables enhanced features such as NFL Sunday Ticket and DVR service to operate properly.

QUESTION: Will bad weather cause DirecTV to blackout?
ANSWER: Blackouts with DirecTV are very rare. With a professional installation, it takes a pretty bad storm to knock out the service. When service does go out due to weather, DirecTV is up and running as soon as the weather breaks, which is a strong advantage of satellite over cable, which may take hours to repair downed-wires before restoring service. Many advances have reduced the occurrences of "rain fade" in recent years, including a clear coat weather resistant covering on the mini-dish and the use of spot-beam satellites, which can "crank up" the signal during bad weather.

QUESTION: Does DirecTV provide any service for people who only need the service for less than 12 months?
ANSWER: DirecTV does offer a seasonal package for customers who, for example, move to a summer home during the summer months. These customers still agree to 12 months of service, and then when they move to their summer home, their service is suspended. If service was suspended after month 9, then the customer is required to reactivate their service on an agreed date and finish their remaining 3 months of service on the original 12 month agreement. Another common solution is to have the customer purchase another mini-dish for their summer home and simply take their receivers with them.

QUESTION: How does a customer upgrade or downgrade service?
ANSWER: Upgrading or downgrading is as easy as getting online or calling DirecTV. The upgrade or downgrade is almost instantaneous, and it's very simple.

QUESTION: What if a customer wants High Definition?
ANSWER: At AmeriDish, we usually take this approach: take our FREE system! We will provide everything the customer needs in a basic system for FREE, and then they can call 1-800-DIRECTV for an equipment upgrade. DirecTV is able to give better rates on equipment upgrades than we can give on equipment sales, so take the FREE deal, then upgrade!

QUESTION: What if a customer wants Digital Video Recorder (DVR)?
ANSWER: DVR's are very hot new field in TV. AmeriDish is authorized to sell DVR's for $99 each (although, may times promotions exist which make it cheaper). Please note that each DVR requires 2 feeds from the mini-dish, and more than 4 feeds constitute a non-standard installation. For 5 or more feeds, the installation price raises to $60.
